Hi Lesley

As usual, our long-awaited holiday is just a wonderful memory, or I should say, many wonderful memories. But we arrived home just prior to a hurricane , much to our surprise. So it's been a few days of sorting all that out, but we never had more than some  tree debris to contend with, unlike many others who had considerable damage. Because we are so far inland and on high ground, the loss of electricity was the worse problem, so we consider ourselves quite fortunate.

We really got lucky with the weather whilst there--our day in Edinburgh was  a bit damp at times, but only for about 15 minutes of the Tattoo, far better than last time. And our last day, driving from Fort William to Glasgow rained, but it didn't start until we'd finished our ride on the Jacobite. We visited Eilean Donan this time .Elijah absolutely loved the drink IrnBru and loves Scotland as much as we do. The hotels were all lovely. Jury's couldn't have been more convenient ( there was a problem I will tell you about in a bit), but all we had to do was go out the back way, up the steps and we were on the Royal Mile. It was also a quick walk from the train station. Airth Castle was beautiful, but Elijah was disappointed that children weren't allowed to stay in the haunted portion ( I handled that much better). Priory's and the Holiday Inn were great as well.

I had arranged rental cars from Europcar in Stirling and Inverness and due to different problems on their part, we had to accept a Mercedes instead of the economy ones I'd paid for. Bob handled that change quite well I thought. Now back to Jury's--when we checked in, they asked for our credit card, as usual, but the girl asked if I wanted to pay in GBP or dollars. I told her that we had already paid, but she said that wasn't  the case. On either side of me at that point, were several people very interested in our conversation, so I was very uncomfortable and slightly embarrassed. That's when I usually start questioning my own understanding of a situation and thought, perhaps, I'd misunderstood our arrangement. I know now that I should have trusted myself, but I don't like making a fuss, so I paid the bill. If it were the matter of a few quid, I wouldn't trouble you, but my teeth nearly fell out when I saw what the amount was (and I don't have dentures). So, I've enlarged the receipt and I will now attempt to scan it through to you. I hate to worry you with this Lesley, but it's just too much to let slide. The girl at the desk was very nice, but very insistent, so she won.

You always take such good care of us and I do appreciate your efforts. Elijah wants to come back to Scotland on the next trip with us--I think he's hooked!

Hi Marie,

At long last I was able to speak with Pastor Ben Seller. The whole group enjoyed the trip and loved the guide &  the driver (which I knew they would). They tweaked a couple points and the guide was very accommodating. They didn’t spend as many hours as I thought they would on Iona, so came back to Mull after lunch.

In Inverness Ben said they wanted to walk around & shop in Inverness, so they decided to forego Culloden. (Obviously not that Scottish). Then in Edinburgh they asked if they could substitute a fish & chips menu at  dinner at the Pub. Evidently, again, the older bunch remembered Brit food as fish & chips. (I  think the best fish & chips I ever had was in a tiny place in Portree where you sat outside & watched the birds eat up the scraps.)

Ben talked more philosophically about the Skye accommodations. I told him I thought that the manager had goofed & forgot your reservation thereby having to open rooms that had not been upgraded or redone. They did say that the dinner was very good & the venue or scenery awesome. I told them that there were scant group facilities on that part of the island.

SO..all is OK and I do want to thank you again for all of your work to make this a memorable experience.

Warmest regards to all,

Hi Lesley.

Sorry I was so long getting back to you, but as soon as we got home, we packed and drove across country to Colorado to visit family out there.

I just wanted to let you know that we had a great time on our trip. The hotels were all very nice.  To tell you the truth, When we were going to the hotel in London we drove forever and I thought we were on the outskirts of London and possibly not in a very good neighborhood because of some of the areas we went through to get there.  However, the Britannia International is in the new financial district and the hotel and the area were very nice.  Also, it was a short walk to the underground so getting around was easy.

My granddaughter enjoyed the trip immensely.  I suspect it will be a cherished memory of hers for the rest of her life.

Also, I wanted to compliment our driver from Damien.  He was competent and courteous and did everything he could to make our visit to Windsor Castle enjoyable, pointing out places of interest and good restaurants.

Thanks again for your efforts.  We are talking with some friends about going to St. Andrews for golf and sightseeing in the next couple of years.  Do you get tee times at St. Andrews? The only way I can get tee times is to write early and request times.  They tell me when I can play and if that date would probably not coincide with a cruise.  If we decide to go on a cruise and need tee times to coincide with the cruise dates, can you get them?

Also, I sent you a copy of a letter I wrote Channings about some lost laundry.  I asked them for reimbursement for the items and for the charge they made for the laundry.  I do not expect you to do anything and am only sending the copy to you so I can use your name for any leverage it might have.  So if they should contact you, you will know why.

Again, this thing with Channings is not your responsibilty and I do not expect you to do anything.  The hotel, by the way, was very nice.

Thanks again for your help.  I will probably be contacting you in a year or so.

Lesley,

Just wanted to send a note of thanks for all of your help with arranging this trip. The clients were very happy with the entire experience and are looking forward to doing another.

Thank you so very much for everything and I hope this will open a new ‘market’ for me so that we can work together again in the future.

If it would be alright with you, after the summer season, I would like to touch base to see if there are any programs you can think of that I could promote here in the U.S. for next year.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I had a chance to catch up with the Theisen's in Ireland, they were ecstatic about the trip.  The highlight was staying at a haunted castle! They just loved Scotland, and greatly enjoyed Ireland.  Thank you, they raved about the trip!

Hope to send more people over to you.
